Failing the COVID Test

I failed the COVID test... again.

Getting tested for COVID is one of the requirements for visiting my brother François who is in a long-term care institution. I have done these tests multiple times.  The other day, I told my pharmacist that I don’t know why I keep on taking them because I always fail them: the results always come back negative. As expected, he chuckled.

One would think that in a period where there is such negativity in the air, COVID test results should be rendered in a more upbeat fashion: “You have positively no COVID!”; “Congratulations! You are COVID free!”; “Well done for keeping the little COVID beasties away!”; “You done good on your COVID test!” "Hurray for yet another splendid COVID test result!". Why not a rewards points system: after x number of negative test results, you get official permission to break the 2 meters social distancing rule and give a hug to someone else who has also recently "failed" the COVID test.

Seems to me that a bit of creativity would go a long way towards motivating me to continue having those sticks with swabs at the end pushed up my nose!
