Recently, my grandson's teacher read a book on the seasons
to his virtual class. For each season, there was one page of “interesting
facts”. One of the interesting facts for Summer was that sunflowers turn their
heads in the direction of the Sun throughout the day to maximize the amount of
exposure they have to sunlight.
One could use that as a metaphor for our relationship with
God. We need to turn to Him and seek his light constantly. The problem is
that I am like a six-year-old when it comes to my relationship with God: easily
distracted by all kinds of things that have nothing to do with that
relationship. Fortunately, the really “interesting fact” about God is that,
when I have wandered, he is the one who moves to meet me where I am. His love
for me is like a sunflower seeking the sunlight, no matter what season it is.
